SCAS Annual Meeting 2006
Dr. Hans-Conrad zur Loye, SCAS President-Elect and organizer of the 2006 Annual Meeting, discusses arrangements with University of South Carolina staff.

 

  The SCAS President and Program Chair of the 79th Annual Meeting of the South Carolina Academy of Science express appreciation to the individuals, organizations, corporations and industrial sponsors for their outstanding work and sponsorship of the 2006 Annual Meeting.  The current SCAS President - Dr. Jim Privett - and the President-Elect of the Academy - Dr. Hans-Conrad zur Loye - wish to personally thank Dr. Mary Anne Fitzpatrick, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences; ; Dr. Davis Baird, Dean of the USC Honors College; Dr. Duncan A. Buell, Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology; the USC Office of Research; the USC NanoCenter; and the chairs of the Departments of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, and Chemical Engineering. We'd also like to thank Karen Fox, who was invaluable in organizing the junior academy; Deedra Senter and Jim Twitty, who arranged everything and made sure that it all went smoothly; David Ferris for helping out with scheduling the program; Kenley Farmer for getting the Newsletter with the program out in time; and Katherine Wright, my student office assistant, who helped keep me organized and on track. Also, the SCAS Council and the faculty and staff of the University of South Carolina deserve our appreciation for making the 79th Annual Meeting a success.

An annual meeting is held in the Spring, usually in March or April.  Any member of the SCAS or the SCJAS is eligible to present a paper at the meeting or attend the meeting.  Midlands Technical College will host this year's Annual Meeting on Friday, April 20, 2007. The deadline for submission of abstracts is TBA 2007.  Papers must emphasize scientific research and education.  The deadline for submission of papers for SCJAS  is TBA 2007.
