Degree Details: B.S. in Information Technology

In Erskine’s IT program, your major coursework will introduce you to the technical world of web development, information security, operating systems, database management, programming, technical writing, cloud computing, and more.   

Alongside your on-campus classroom experience, you will take several specialized IT courses online. Coursework will include plenty of hands-on learning to prepare you for your career. Courses in the IT major include:

  • Networking Technologies and Telecommunications  
  • Information Security and Data Protection 
  • Operating Systems and Architecture

In your liberal arts core curriculum, you can develop proficiency in critical thinking, which opens the door for career advancement in areas such as project management and technical leadership.

Careers in Information Technology

As of May 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the median IT salary was $97,430, which is more than twice the median income for all occupations. Many IT professionals have also reported high levels of satisfaction with their jobs. According to a survey of workers in the tech industry conducted by CNBC, 90% of those surveyed said they were “very or somewhat satisfied with their job.”
