Erskine’s Health Science program prepares you to pursue an advanced degree in physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy, or in a physician’s assistant program. You will acquire fundamental knowledge about the healthcare industry, learn healthcare research methods, and gain practical experience through our partnerships with healthcare professionals.
Within the Health Science major, you can choose to earn either a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts.
- The B.S. in Health Science prepares you for careers involving scientific research or for advanced studies in allied healthcare.
- The B.A. in Health Science is ideal if you plan to enter a health profession that does not require a doctoral degree, or if you intend to enter healthcare fields such as teaching, management, or administration.
The Health Science program is intensely practical. During your sophomore and junior years, you will complete a total of 100 hours supervised field experience, paired with professionals in your area of career interest. In addition to field work, the program allows you to explore research methods in your future profession and gives you practical experience in writing for the health science field. At Erskine, you will receive mentoring from your professors and from professionals in the field, equipping you for further studies and for your future career.
Erskine’s MSAT degree
The Health Science major provides the perfect transition into Erskine’s Master of Science in Athletic Training program. At Erskine, you can expedite your education by completing both a bachelor’s degree in Health Science and an MSAT degree in just five years, rather than six. In our program, you will learn a holistic approach to patient care and gain hands-on experience through multiple clinical rotations. You will also learn how to design, implement, and analyze clinically based athletic training research.
