This year’s lecturer is musician Micah Hendler.\nSpeaker Bio\nMicah Hendler\, creator of the Jerusalem Youth Chorus\, uses music to address social conflict. Co-founder of Raise Your Voice Labs and co-director of music for Braver Angels\, he holds a degree in International Studies and Music from Yale University. \nFor his innovative projects in music and social transformation\, Micah has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. His work has also been featured in The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, Forbes\, The Jerusalem Post\, and on NBC. \nThe Stukes Lecture Series\nThe Joseph T. Stukes Lecture Series brings a distinguished lecturer to Erskine College each year. The fund was established by students and colleagues of Stukes\, who served as professor of history (1966-74) and vice president for academic affairs (1966-71) at Erskine College. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” font_size=”lg”]Internationally acclaimed pianist Jose Ramon Mendez will be in concert July 9\, 2024 in Erskine’s Memorial Hall. Mendez has performed around the world\, with concerts in Italy\, England\, Portugal\, Holland\, Japan\, the United States\, and his home country of Spain. In Fall 2024\, he will join the faculty of Oberlin Conservatory as Associate Professor of Piano. Mendez is also a member of the Palmetto International Piano Festival (PIPF) faculty. DESCRIPTION:Fall on the Mall is our annual fall festival event that is hosted by Residence Life for the benefit of local families and children in the surrounding communities. Last year we had over 200 children attend this event! There will be tables set up on the Mall which are hosted by different groups passing out candy and providing fun activities for children to participate in – children are encouraged to come dressed in costume!
