Erskine students, alumni, families and friends joined to celebrate Homecoming 2013 as well as Family Day and Fall Fest Saturday, Oct. 26.

A full day of activities was highlighted by a Family Day Silent Auction in support of student life, the induction of six new members into the Flying Fleet Hall of Fame, and the crowning of senior Cate Cardinale of Rock Hill as this year’s homecoming queen at halftime of the men’s soccer match against Pfeiffer University.

This year’s homecoming court included princesses Kristen Craft, a freshman from Anderson, S.C..; Elinor Griffin, a sophomore from Greenville, S.C.; and Mika Goyette, a junior from Brossard, Quebec, Canada. Second runner-up was senior Leslie McGill of Clover, S.C., and first runner-up was senior Corin Hallman of Mount Pleasant, S.C. Cardinale was crowned by last year’s queen, Erin Gray of West Columbia, S.C.

Fleet-O-Rama, the traditional float-building contest, was held on Robinson Field Friday evening and the floats were on display Saturday morning in the homecoming parade. In addition to working on floats, students enjoyed testing their skills on a climbing wall set up for the occasion.

Also on Saturday morning, faculty offices were open to welcome students and their families; a meeting of the Alumni Board was scheduled; and six new members of the Flying Fleet Hall of Fame were inducted during a brunch meeting in Moffatt Dining Hall.
