Honors Institute at Erskine

Seek Truth. Love Wisdom.

The Honors Institute at Erskine is a unique three-year program designed to challenge your intellect and grow your faith. In our discussion-based curriculum, you’ll learn alongside like-minded students and prepare to offer Christian leadership in whatever field you enter after college. The program satisfies most general education requirements and is compatible with all majors. You’ll have the opportunity to explore authors and traditions from antiquity through the contemporary era—all from a biblical worldview.

The Honors Seminar

Study the Bible and Great Texts in small cohort classes that prioritize discussion. This method helps you develop clear thinking and trains you in communication skills, critical thinking, and biblical worldview formation.

Ultimately, these seminar discussions will train students to grapple with urgent and everlasting questions from a variety of historical vantage points while remaining rooted in the biblical witness that Christ is Lord.

– Dr. Dennis Kinlaw, Director of the Honors Institute

The Honors Institute offers a unique space for learning in a small cohort of equally engaged learners, and with the possibility of building meaningful, long-lasting relationships with professors who serve as intellectual guides.

– Dr. Alessandra Brivio, Assistant Professor of History

I decided to join Honors after hearing about the deep discussions we would have. I was drawn to the books of antiquity we would read and the discussions of truth we would find in them. God and His handiwork can be found anywhere, even in the depths of Plato and Homer, and the Lord can use these works to change you.

– Reagan Kirby, Honors Institute student and English major
