Longtime Erskine history professors Dr. Sandra Chaney and Dr. David Grier narrated a presentation of images from their teaching experience in Central China at a convocation in Lesesne Auditorium Oct. 6.

Chaney and Grier, who are married and the parents of a daughter whom they adopted from China, taught British and United States History in English to juniors in English-based majors at Sias International University during the 2015-16 academic year.

The school, which was founded in 1998, is an American-owned university affiliated with Zhengzhou University as well as with Fort Hays State University of Kansas.

Chaney home-schooled daughter Anna Mei while teaching a lighter course load than her husband. The couple also became students themselves, enrolling in a Chinese language class at Sias.

The family was able to travel in China as well as in other parts of Asia during academic breaks.

Chaney and Grier, along with Anna Mei, are no strangers to China and Sias University. Read about their previous adventures here.
