Tom Ervin ’74 recognized by National Eagle Scout Association

Tom Ervin, a 1974 graduate of Erskine College, has received the National Eagle Scout Association’s Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) for 2017. The award was presented Feb. 8 at the 2018 Blue Ridge Council Banquet in Greenville, S.C.

Ervin, who began his scouting career in Honea Path, S.C., earned the rank of Eagle Scout with three Palms, and received the God and Country Award in 1967. He was awarded the BSA Medal for Meritorious Action after he used his Boy Scout first aid skills to rescue a motorist in Anderson County, S.C.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Ervin served two terms in the SC House of Representatives for Anderson County and was elected as the youngest circuit court judge in South Carolina history at age 32. He serves on the Blue Ridge Council Board of Directors.

Ervin returned to the Erskine campus in 2014 to speak at a special convocation for Constitution Day.
