Erskine sophomore Alex Bass, a business administration major from York, S.C., was the winner of a Student Auditions Award from the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Mid-Atlantic Region in a competition hosted Feb. 24 at the College of Charleston. Bass is a voice student of Prof. Bill Diekhoff and was accompanied on the piano by Prof. Tobi Otekayi.

“Singing is something I’ve always loved to do and God blessed me with a voice to share with others,” Bass said. “I’ve competed before but this is the first time I’ve placed.”

He expressed thanks to Prof. Diekhoff and the music department at Erskine for the training and support he has received.

Bass serves as president of the Euphemian Literary Society and treasurer of the ARP Student Union; is a member of the Erskine Choraleers and Chamber Singers; participates in Reformed University Fellowship; serves as a Resident Assistant and an Erskine Ambassador; and is active in Onward and Upward (OAU).
