John Paul Bell, Sr., a member of the Erskine College Class of 1984, has been named Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Strategic Giving, Erskine President Dr. Robert Gustafson announced today.

A resident of Due West, Paul is married to Jeanne Neely Bell ’92, and they are the parents of two children. He most recently served as chief executive officer of the Renaissance retirement community.

He was executive director of Central Services for the General Synod of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church from 2007 to 2015, and chief executive officer of the Due West Retirement Center from 1995 to 2007.

As a young graduate, Paul served as an admissions counselor and then director of admissions at Erskine until 1988, when he left to pursue a master’s degree at Appalachian State University.

Paul is the son of the late Dr. James Bell ’48 and Lois Alexander Bell ’51. All five of his siblings are Erskine graduates.

“Paul Bell brings a wealth of valuable experience to us at Erskine,” Gustafson said.

“We are delighted to welcome him to this important position.”

He will begin work Jan. 2 at the conclusion of Erskine’s Christmas break.
