Policy

General Policies

  • The library provides self-service printing and copying for Erskine students, faculty, and staff as well as walk-in patrons.
  • While we strive for uninterrupted service, the library cannot promise 100% uptime for the printer or copiers.
  • A problem with the printer or copiers should be reported to a library staff member and handled by trained individuals.
  • After 5:00 pm and on the weekends, library workers can fix paper jams, load paper, and replace toner BUT THAT IS ALL.  The evening and weekend library workers are not trained to fix printer/copier problems beyond those mentioned above.
  • Any major failure with the printer/printing system or copiers will likely cause printing/copying to be down for an extended period of time.  Attempts by untrained persons to fix the printer/print-server or copiers may cause an even longer down time.  All problems should be reported to the library staff and handled only by trained individuals.

Photocopying

  • McCain Library provides two photocopiers for public use.  The photocopiers are available all hours the library is open.
  • The charge is $0.05 per copy.  The photocopiers accept copy/print cards and money (nickels, dimes, quarters, $1 bills, and $5 bills).
  • Color printing is not available in the library.

Printing

  • A networked printer is provided for all public computer workstations provided by the library.
  • The charge is $0.05 per print.  The networked printer accepts copy/print cards and money (nickels, dimes, quarters, $1 bills, and $5 bills).
  • Color printing is not available in the library.
  • The library does not support direct printing from patrons’ personal computers.

Microform Reader/Printers

  • The library provides a microform reader/printer for making copies from microfilm and microfiche.  The reader/printer is available all hours the library is open.  An additional reader (without printing capabilities) is available in the Reid Hall Archives Reading Room.
  • The charge is $0.05 per print.  Using the honor code system, patrons should pay for printouts at the circulation desk.

Copyright Notice

The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17 of the U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
