Head Men’s Soccer Coach
B.S., Roberts Wesleyan University
Profile
Brett W. Gould is a speaker, teacher, and author, who has spent 29 years coaching. He is a proud alumnus of Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester, N.Y.
In his role as Head Coach for Men’s Soccer at Erskine College, Coach Gould says his focus is to steward the opportunity to love, lead, and serve well so that the young men in his care win their futures. Marriages, parenting, community leadership, and so much more depend on a culture that focuses on that first. Results on a field fade. The process and integrity that go into raising young men of character is the focus.
Gould has won a lot on the field in his career, but it isn’t his favorite part. The texts, phone calls, and life updates many, many years later are the real wins. In a world that says that approach is “soft,” Gould maintains that he doesn’t mind playing the long game in a world addicted to short-term preferences.
He likes to tell others that “Every interaction is an audition for trust.” He says that “Jesus is still playing the long game. I will, too.”
Personal Interests
Gould and his wife Cara have three children: Ella, Oscar, and Sawyer.
