Profile

Dr. Cathy Sparks grew up in Spartanburg, S.C. and graduated from Wofford College with a B.S. in Psychology. She has earned multiple degrees in counseling: an M.Ed. in Elementary School Counseling from the University of South Carolina, an Ed.S. in Counseling from the University of South Carolina, and an Ed.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse University. She also earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

Experience

Dr. Sparks has taught at Converse University and the University of South Carolina Upstate. At Erskine, she began as an adjunct Professor in Christian Counseling and now serves as director for the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling program. Dr. Sparks maintains a clinical practice in Lyman, S.C., working with young children in play therapy and has been published in the Play Therapy magazine.

Personal Interests

Dr. Sparks is married to a pastor and has 3 children and 14 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing the piano, and directing the choir at church.
