Matthew Campbell

Profile

Dr. Matthew Campbell earned a Ph.D. at Indiana University, an M.S. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.S. at the College of William and Mary. He joined the faculty of Erskine College in 2018 and teaches Biology and Geology courses including ecology, ornithology, and organismal biology. Previously, he taught at Wheaton College, Judson University, and Charleston Southern University.   

Research and Publications

Dr. Campbell’s research and publications focus on fossil and recent mollusks. He has published papers in Malacologia and Tulane Studies in Geology and Paleontology and has co-authored a paper for Paleontological Contributions. He has contributed to field guides to North Carolina and its vicinity and has co-authored chapters in the following publications:

  • Evolutionary Biology of the Bivalvia 
  • A Compendium of Field Trips of South Carolina Geology with Emphasis on the Charleston, South Carolina Area
