Erskine receives CIC grant to explore Christian vocation

logo-c_NetVUE-CIC copyErskine College has been selected to receive a NetVUE Program Development Grant in the amount of $32,700 for use between January 1, 2014, and January 31, 2016. The Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE) is a program administered by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).

Erskine College is among 36 NetVUE institutions selected to deepen the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation among undergraduate students.

The Erskine team responsible for securing and administering the grant includes Acting President Dr. Brad Christie, Vice President for Student Services Dr. Robyn Agnew, Vice President for Communications Cliff Smith, and Grady Patterson Professor of Political Science Dr. Ashley Woodiwiss.

Erskine’s grant, “Flourishing and Vocational Excellence” (FaVE), seeks to bring the Christian concept of vocation into the heart of Erskine’s identity and mission. It will do so by providing programs and opportunities for all of Erskine’s constituencies, with special emphasis given to faculty, staff and undergraduate student

The grant program begins in the Spring semester of 2014 highlighted by a workshop to be held for 10 members of the faculty and two members of Erskine’s staff during the week following commencement. Regular program opportunities then expand over the life of the program grant, with the grant’s ultimate goal being Erskine’s development into a recognized center and site for vocational excellence.
