Beloved former professor and vice president dies

Dr. Joseph T. Stukes, who served as professor of history at Erskine from
1966-74 and vice president for academic affairs from 1966-71, died
Tuesday, Jan. 12.

A fund establishing the Joseph T. Stukes Lecture Series was established in
his honor by students and colleagues, bringing many distinguished
historians to speak at Erskine College.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 15. It will take place from
6-8 p.m. at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, 2402 S Irby St. in
Florence.

The funeral service will take place Saturday, January 16, 11 a.m. at
John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2000 Marsh Ave. in Florence.
