Erskine ranks among top 10 safest campuses in U.S.

StateUniversity.com, a website for college information, has released its 2011 ranking of the safest colleges and universities in the United States. Erskine College and Theological Seminary was listed among the top 10 safest campuses, ranking seventh in the country.

“We always make a strong showing on this indicator,” Interim Vice President and Dean of the College Dr. Brad Christie said. “But to be in the top ten is good news, especially for parents of prospective students.”

Chief Communications Officer Cliff Smith agreed. “What’s even better is that Erskine one of just two among those ten that is also ranked as a National Liberal Arts College,” he said.

“The safety of our community combined with excellent liberal arts education and authentically Christian atmosphere make it a great environment for our students, faculty and staff to flourish intellectually, physically, and spiritually.”

The “Safest Schools” findings by StateUniversity.com are based on incidents of campus crime as reported by campus safety officials.

Dominik Mazur, founder of StateUniversity.com, said, “Student safety and campus crime are sometimes overlooked during the college evaluation process. We believe it is important for students to be aware of crime on campus and in the surrounding community.”
