Profile

Darrell Proffitt serves as Chief Financial Officer at Erskine College, providing executive leadership for the College’s strategic financial planning, operations, and long-term sustainability. As a member of the President’s Cabinet and Treasurer for the Board of Trustees, he works to align Erskine’s financial resources with its mission and strategic priorities.

Professional Experience

Proffitt brings more than three decades of experience spanning higher education, commercial banking, financial analysis, business finance, and public accounting. Prior to joining Erskine, he served as Director of Finance at Brevard College and held leadership positions in banking and the hospitality industry. His diverse professional background provides a broad perspective on financial management, capital structure, risk management, investment strategy, and organizational leadership.

Since joining Erskine in 2022, Proffitt has helped lead a period of significant financial improvement and institutional strengthening. His leadership has focused on restoring financial stability, strengthening budgeting and reporting, improving internal controls and accountability, modernizing business operations, restructuring institutional debt, and advancing long-range financial planning. During this period, Erskine has strengthened its operating performance while continuing to invest strategically in enrollment growth, academic programs, campus facilities, and the student experience.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Western Carolina University in 1993.

Personal Interests

Outside his professional responsibilities, Proffitt enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife have four children and two grandchildren, and he especially values the time they are able to spend together. His Christian faith is central to his life and shapes his commitment to family, service, and faithful stewardship of the responsibilities entrusted to him.
