Erskine pitcher Kyle Knoll looks in toward a batter

Knoll heads to Northwoods League

Photo of Erskine's Kyle KnollErskine pitcher Kyle Knoll will be playing this summer for the Green Bay Rockers in the Northwoods League, the largest collegiate summer wooden-bat baseball league in the country.

“I am excited about playing in the Northwoods this summer,” Kyle says. “Completely different environment that I can’t wait to get around.”

The 6’ 7” junior from Indian Land, South Carolina, is 2-0 on the season and had appeared in 18 games heading into the Conference Carolinas postseason. He closed out the regular season on a high note, earning Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week accolades after helping the Flying Fleet defeat #13 Young Harris on April 24. It was the first such honor for an Erskine pitcher since the 2021 season.

In his career to date, Kyle, a left-handed pitcher, has appeared in 56 games and struck out 48 batters in 63 innings of work.

In Kyle, the Rockers will be adding an experienced pitcher who is comfortable in relief. He’s also comfortable with a challenge. As a junior, he changed his major to mathematics and took on a heavy courseload in 2025-26 with eight math classes out of the nine courses he’s taken. Courses this spring included Calculus IV, Physics II, Abstract Algebra, and Coding II. Mix in baseball and the far easier path would be to opt for a less challenging major or to forgo his sport.

“He’s remained committed and determined despite the heavy load and his baseball schedule,” says Dr. Catherine White, associate professor of mathematics. “He’s always respectful and friendly—both in and out of the classroom.”

Keeping up with challenging coursework and a heavy baseball schedule (50-plus games) is easier for Kyle with the boost he gets from his Erskine teammates.

“I like the family environment the team creates,” Kyle says. “It feels like a second home around the guys. It’s confidence boosting and it brings the guys closer together.”
