Profile

An “Air Force brat”, Rick grew up in South Carolina, Hawaii, and Texas before graduating from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He later earned a Master of Agricultural Education degree from Clemson University.

Professional Experience

After graduating from the University of Texas, Rick worked as an auditor for a state agency in Texas. He subsequently relocated to South Carolina, earned teacher certification and his Master’s degree, and taught at Wren High School, Palmetto High School, and Mauldin Middle School until retiring from the classroom in May 2026. During his time at Wren and Palmetto, Rick also served a number of years as Head Coach for Boys and Girls Track and Field and Cross Country teams and as assistant football coach. Additionally, Rick was employed as a counselor and case manager for South Carolina Dept. of Vocational Rehabilitation, Pickens County Board of Disabilities & Special Needs, and Goodwill Industries. He began working at Erskine in July 2026.

Personal Interests

In his spare time, Rick enjoys jogging, attending sports events, watching classic movies/television shows, reading, attending church, and being around his family.
