Erskine prepares to welcome new students for Orientation 2014

Booklet coverErskine College staff and volunteers are busy preparing to offer several days of orientation activities for this year’s freshmen, who will arrive on campus Wednesday, August 20, ready to move into their residence halls and begin their college experience.

Trent Payne, who serves as coordinator for student transitions in the Office of Student Services, said the staff enjoyed meeting some of the new students during Erskine Escape, a pre-orientation experience for incoming freshmen. “We now look forward to all of them arriving for the start of their first year at Erskine,” he said.

Staff members and student volunteers will be on hand to help students move in. The traditional Erskine Soiree, with a 1920s theme this year, is planned for Wednesday evening.

Orientation sessions continue Thursday and through the weekend, with a breakfast on the Circle Sunday morning followed by a worship service and welcome at the Due West ARP Church.

An orientation session for transfer students is planned for Sunday afternoon.
