The Sport Management major prepares you to be a leader in the business world of sports and entertainment. You will learn the managerial and fiscal skills necessary for a career in sports marketing, facility management, team operations, or other sport-related positions. This range of knowledge will prepare you to enter the work force, pursue a graduate degree, or achieve your entrepreneurial goals.
Graduates from our Sport Management program have succeeded in a variety of careers. Among our graduates are wellness directors for major corporations, YMCA fitness directors, sports directors for recreation centers, intramural directors for major universities, and strength and conditioning coaches.
The Sport Management Major includes 48 semester hours of general business and sport management courses.
Business courses such as Principles of Accounting, Principles of Management, and Business Law will give you a practical knowledge of business. Additionally, you will be able to take Sport Management courses including Introduction to Sport Management, Event Management, Sport Law, Economics and Finance of Sport, and Theory and Psychology of Coaching. Ultimately, you will learn about the fundamentals of business and the unique nature of Sport and Entertainment. This program, coupled with field experience and internships, will leave graduates ideally situated to succeed in this popular and expanding field.
