The 40th Annual Joseph T. Stukes lecture will be held Monday, February 23 in the Founders Room of Moffatt Dining Hall. Students, faculty, staff, and the public are welcome to attend. Admission is free!

Dr. Martha Merritt is Dean and the Carole M. Weinstein Chair of Global Education at the University of Richmond.

She has lived and worked in five countries, including four years at Oxford University where she earned her doctorate in Russian politics. She has taught political science and peace studies, and guided global engagement for Richmond, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Chicago. Her priorities are connecting the local and global as well as deepening faculty and student connection abroad.

The Joseph T. Stukes Lecture series brings a distinguished lecturer in history to Erskine College each year. The fund was established by students and colleagues of Stukes, who served as professor of history and vice president for academic affairs at Erskine College. He died in 2016.
