Profile:
Dr. Mary Gibson grew up in Central/Clemson, South Carolina. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration, an M.B.A in Business Administration, M.S. in forensic psychology, and a D. B. A. in Business Administration with emphasis in accounting. Her academic and professional focus centers around all topics in accounting, business management, and understanding human nature. She is passionate about preparing students to pursue God’s will for their lives through ethical accounting practices: Code of Professional Conduct of responsibilities, public interest, due care, integrity, objectivity and independence in practice, and understanding the scope and nature of services (American Institute of Public Accountants, 2020).

Dr. Gibson’s professional background spans all aspects of accounting, including profit and nonprofit accounting, governmental accounting, and business management.
- Prevent Child Abuse Pickens County (TPP) – managed accounts payable and receivable for organization including federal grant funded projects. Developed and maintained budgets, providing financial planning and analysis. Prepared internal financial reports, identifying trends and insights. Administered payroll and ensured compliance with reporting guidelines.
- Tiger Properties of Clemson (LLC) – managed profit and loss reports for property owners. Oversaw account dispositions, including closing and opening accounts. Handled cash flow management and coordinated with other LLCs for billing, payments, and owner draws.
- Find Great People (Clemson University) – reconciled up to $2 million daily and processed account receivables via wire transfers. Processed accounts payable for travel expenses for faculty.
- Pendleton Oil Mill – managed accounts receivable and payable. Prepared payroll and tax filings (manually). Created seasonal sales forecasts and analytical reports. Prepared governmental contracts/bids for multiple states. Supervised staff and HR functions.
- AT&T (GIS) – supervised production line operations and monitored quality assurance in supply chain management creating reports for senior leadership. Maintained QA and ISO 9000 compliance earning awards for quality and efficiency.
- GMCE – owned and operated a computer repair/sales company after high school until co-owner moved. Ordered products and scheduled work. Prepared financial reports and budgets. Completed taxes and accounts payable/receivable.
- She has also taught accounting at Southern Wesleyan University, Clemson University, and Avila University.

Dr. Gibson and her husband, Steve, enjoy attending sports events or activities that their children – Danny, Kim, Monica, and Katie are involved. Taking education and fun family trips (even camping at the beach and facing bears in the mountains). Enjoys trying different cooking recipes!
