Erskine performs well in 2022 U.S. News rankings

Erskine College has been listed in the U.S. News Best Colleges for 2022. Erskine placed 11th among “Best Regional Colleges” in the South, placing second among South Carolina schools on the list.

“I’m delighted that Erskine College has been recognized once again in U.S. News Best Colleges,” Interim President Dr. Tom Hellams said. “The exceptional efforts of our faculty and staff continue to communicate the value of Christian higher education at this historic institution.”

Among the “Best Regional Colleges” in the South, Erskine placed eighth in Undergraduate Teaching and is the only South Carolina school listed. This distinction is based on data from college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans who were asked to nominate up to 15 schools in their Best Colleges ranking category for strength in undergraduate teaching.

“I am extremely proud of all that has been accomplished by faculty and students leading to this significant recognition,” Hellams said.

Some 800 undergraduates arrived on campus in August for the fall semester, after many months of pandemic-related challenges. “Our continued strong incoming enrollment numbers speak volumes about the opportunities available to prospective students,” Dean of Enrollment Dr. Tim Rees said. “We are truly thankful and blessed to have such talented faculty and staff to provide a quality learning environment.”

The U.S. News Best Colleges edition for 2022 assesses more than 1,400 bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality. These rankings are now in their 37th year.
