Christmas concerts scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3

Erskine’s choral and instrumental groups will present Christmas concerts Saturday, December 3. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

An instrumental concert, performed in the Bowie Arts Center at 2:00 p.m., will feature Sinfonia, Jazz Band, and a saxophone quartet. Music will include “Carol of the Bells,” “Evergreen,” traditional carols, and movements from The Nutcracker.

“An Erskine Christmas: Ringing in the Season,” performed in Memorial Hall at 7:00 p.m., will showcase the Choraleers and Chamber Singers, along with vocal and instrumental soloists and men’s and women’s ensembles. The concert will feature traditional Christmas standards, along with newer works. Three student conductors will lead the audience in singing Christmas hymns, and the Choraleers will be joined by Erskine history professor and oboist Dr. Christiane-Marie Abu Sarah for an arrangement of “Sing We Now of Christmas.” Throughout the concert, a recurring “bell” theme will be apparent.
