Flying Fleet Hour-A-Thon soars past fundraising goal
Due West, S.C. — The Erskine Athletics Hour-A-Thon set a Flying Fleet record this year, raising $157,680 for the college’s athletic programs. This amount exceeded Erskine’s previous Hour-A-Thon record of $128,050 and surpassed this year’s goal of $140,000.
Now in its fourth year, the Hour-A-Thon has become a signature fundraising effort for Erskine Athletics. During the event, every Erskine student-athlete personally contacts 25 friends, family members, and supporters through calls and text messages over the course of one hour. This year’s event was conducted on the evening of August 27 from 7 to 8 p.m., and donations were received over the following week.
Funds raised in the Hour-A-Thon go directly to Erskine athletic teams, providing vital support for upgraded gear and improved travel during the 2025–26 season.
“The cost of running intercollegiate athletics is increasing at a rapid rate, so the Hour-A-Thon provides us an opportunity to defray those rising costs and helps us to improve the experience of Erskine Athletics,” says Director of Athletics Mark Peeler.
During this year’s event, the teams competed with one another in their fundraising efforts and charted their progress on a leader board. The baseball team finished first, raising $55,000. Four other teams—Women’s Soccer, Golf, Beach Volleyball, and Men’s Basketball—raised more than $10,000.
“I am extremely grateful to our student-athletes for their work on this and for every single friend and family member of the program who donated to the Hour-A-Thon,” Peeler says. “We are blessed to have such tremendous support!”
The Hour-A-Thon continues to grow in impact each year, showcasing the commitment of Erskine’s student-athletes and the generosity of the Erskine community.
