Andy Anderson

Director of Career Services

B.S., Erskine College (’93); M.A., University of South Carolina

Andy was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. A 1989 graduate of Columbia High School and a 1993 graduate of Erskine College, he went on to experience a variety of unique opportunities, including appearing as a cast member in the movie Renaissance Man (Danny DeVito, Mark Wahlberg), followed by a supporting role in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (Jim Carrey).

In 1997, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri for seminary studies but instead became a morning-show sidekick and producer for KLOU-FM with local radio legend J.C. Corcoran—a role that led to interviews with major entertainers and athletes, as well as connections with the St. Louis Cardinals and the former St. Louis Rams.

Andy returned to Columbia in 2001 and spent several years traveling internationally, including to Ukraine, Austria, China, Senegal and France. His ties to France deepened through Dr. Lara Lomicka, a University of South Carolina French professor whom he married in 2004. He completed a Master of Mass Communication at USC in 2006.

Since then, Andy has built a career in Higher Education, serving in roles such as Administrative Coordinator for the American Comparative Literature Association; Employer Relationship Manager with USC’s Career Center; Coordinator of Alumni Relations and Communications at Erskine College; Program Coordinator for International Activities and later, Career Coach at USC’s Darla Moore School of Business; and currently Alumni Development Officer and Career Services Coordinator at Erskine College.

From 2016 to 2022, Andy, Lara, their two daughters, and three cats lived on USC’s campus in Preston College. Now settled in Columbia’s Shandon neighborhood, he enjoys cycling, serving as an Elder in his church, and cherishing life with his family. Grateful for God’s providence, he looks forward to whatever comes next.
