Multi-Factor Authentication

Erskine College and Theological Seminary is taking steps to help protect your Erskine email. By enabling two-factor verification, your Erskine email account sign-in requires both your user name and password as well as a mobile device or phone.

IT FAQS

How do I gain Internet access?

  • Wireless (Wi-Fi)
    • Erskine provides open wireless that has a broadcast ID of ErskineW. It is available in every campus building.
    • Wireless networks are separated by each dorm and campus building.
  • Ethernet/Wired (Rj-45 cable)
    • We request that students fill out the Ethernet activation form to gain access to wired internet.
    • Please activate Ethernet if gaming or streaming content.
      • You will have a better internet experience and lighten the load of the wireless (it’s a win-win).
    • Erskine IT does not provide Ethernet cables.
    • No routers or access points allowed.
  • Internet usage should abide by the policies in the Student Handbook (The Pilot)

How can I Print?

  • Wēpa Print stations
    • At the start of each semester each student is given a $25 print credit which expires at the end of each semester.
    • Wēpa login account credentials are the Erskine email credentials
    • Stations are located in McCain Library, Java City, and Erskine College Police department.
      • Java City and Police Department have 24/7 fob access
    • You can check your balance and link any cloud accounts (like OneDrive) to your WEPA account by logging into: wepanow.com with your Erskine credentials.
    • Cost of printing on the Wēpa print station
      • $0.08 B&W Single Sided
      • $0.17 B&W Double Sided
      • $0.45 Color Single Sided
      • $0.89 Color Double Sided
    • Students can reload their Wēpa print credits if they run out of print credits during the semester.
      • Any money deposited does not expire
      • Reload in amount of $5, $10, $15, $20, or $50
        • Can purchase through wepanow.com with credit/debit card or PayPal
        • Print cards are also sold in McCain Library
      • Personal Printers
        • We do not recommend personal printers; however, if one is purchased, please turn off the Wi-Fi capability on the printer.

How do I use a print kiosk?

Users have multiple options to send their documents to Wēpa before printing at a kiosk.

  • Upload document(s) from user computer to Wēpa’s website;
  • Download Wēpa’s print driver software on user’s computer and use it to upload documents to the Wēpa cloud.
  • Install the Wēpa Android or Apple mobile app on user smartphone to upload/scan documents to the Wēpa cloud.
  • Store user documents on a USB flash drive to use at a kiosk.
  • Email print@wepanow.com and use the Wēpa Code in the reply at any Wēpa print station.
  • Access your Office 365 OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive from the Kiosk.

Print jobs can be stored in the Wēpa cloud for 96 hours. Students can print documents stored in the Wēpa cloud at any print kiosk.

Students can login to each kiosk with their Erskine email account credentials

Students can also tag any card with a magnetic strip to automatically log into Wēpa account and avoid manually entering username/password credentials. More information here: http://support.wepanow.com/tag-untag-card/

Office 365

  • Go Mobile
    • Add your Erskine email account as an exchange account to your mobile device,
    • Or download the Outlook App in your app store.
  • Download fully installed Office on 5 PC’s/Mac’s, 5 Tablets, and 5 phones
    • Free as long are you are enrolled/employed at Erskine
    • Available on personal equipment
  • OneDrive cloud storage
  • To access online versions of Office and/or download full feature Office, visit office.com or select the “App Launcher” within your Outlook Web Application.

Student Portal

  • The student portal is located at: https://eportal.erskine.edu/student
  • The student portal is used to:
    • View and pay student bills
    • View class schedule, course material, course grades
    • Accept/decline financial aid

How can I get technical assistance?

  • Email our helpdesk ticketing system by emailing: helpdesk@erskine.edu (preferred method).
    • Please include contact information, a detailed description of the issue, and any troubleshooting methods.
  • Call our helpdesk line at 864-379-8816, or visit our office in Belk Hall 317-321 during business hours.
  • Erskine IT is available during Erskine’s business hours (we are not staffed 24/7).
  • Erskine IT is a resource for current students for technical assistance with software/hardware installations, troubleshooting, servicing, upgrading, and maintenance.
    • We do not provide hardware support on mobile phones or tablets.
    • If hardware is not covered by warranty replacement, the student will be responsible for the expense of replacing the part, while the labor is free.

Do I need a personal computer?

  • Erskine IT recommends purchasing a personal computer for your use while at Erskine.
  • Erskine does have public use computers located on campus, but they are not accessible 24/7.
    • Available during operating hours (McCain Library)
  • For personal computers we recommend a computer that is:
    • Windows 10 Operating System or Macintosh Operating system 10.12 or higher
    • Screen size of 15 inches
    • RAM/Memory is at least 8 GB (higher is better)
    • Storage is at least 120 GB (higher is better)
      • Solid State Drives (SSD) perform faster and better than traditional spinning HDD but cost more per GB
    • Extended warranty through the manufacturer

Erskine Email

Every enrolled student at Erskine will receive an Erskine email address. This address will serve as an official means for faculty and staff to contact students. Students are expected to check their official Erskine email on a frequent and consistent basis and recognize that certain communication may be time-critical.

Office 365 is a suite of productivity and collaboration products that can be installed locally, accessed online, or interacted with through mobile devices.

The Office of Information Technology partners with Microsoft to provide Office 365 for Erskine College employees and students.  The Office 365 suite includes Microsoft Office, Office Web Apps, and Office Mobile Apps.  Students also use the provided email and calendaring portion of Office 365.

Microsoft Office Installations

Office 365 allows full-time employees and currently enrolled students access to install full-versions of Microsoft Office and Office Mobile simultaneously on 5 devices and is available for PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password by logging into your Office 365 account (office.com) with your Erskine email and current password, click on settings (gear icon), then select password.

If you do not know your current password and are unable to login to your account, you can use the password reset link here if you have already entered the additional information (email or phone number) for your Erskine account. If not, you will have to call or visit the Erskine IT Office for a password reset.

Please note these password requirements:

Passwords chosen must:

  • Be a minimum of twelve (12) characters in length
  • Contain at least one (1) character from three (3) of the following categories:
    • Uppercase letter (A-Z)
    • Lowercase letter (a-z)
    • Digit (0-9)
    • Special character (~`!@#$%^&*()+=_-{}[]\|:;”’?/<>,.)

Passwords chosen must not:

  • Contain any part of your name

It is strongly recommended that:

  • Passwords are changed twice per year (e.g., when clocks are adjusted in the spring and fall)
  • Each password chosen is new and different

We create accounts after the student enrollment fee is paid. Reach out to your admissions counselor to learn more.

  • Erskine provides Microsoft Office for all students, faculty, and staff for up to 5 PCs/Macs
  • Erskine provides One Terabyte of OneDrive cloud storage for all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Students have access to Wēpa Print stations on campus; therefore, we do not recommend personal printers.
    • If personal printers are purchased, we ask that wireless printing is turned off.
  • Erskine does not provide personal computers or tablets.
  • Erskine does have computer labs for student use.
  • Erskine IT recommends a personal computer that:
