Erskine Building With Fallen Trees In Front

Erskine College works to restore campus following Hurricane Helene

Erskine College in Due West, S.C. sustained significant damage to trees and power lines during Hurricane Helene. The storm caused no injuries to students or personnel on campus. Power was restored to parts of campus on Monday, with all power restored by Wednesday. There does not appear to be any major damage to buildings or infrastructure, but college officials will need to inspect the buildings and grounds to make a full assessment.

“First and foremost, we are thankful that all our students are safe. That is our number one priority,” said Erskine President Dr. Steve Adamson. “Over the next days and weeks, we will be working to restore our campus. Erskine has stood strong for 185 years, and with God’s help, we will continue to do so.”

Faculty, staff, student, and community volunteers have worked alongside the Aramark grounds crew to clear branches and debris across campus.

The president’s cabinet met Monday afternoon to discuss when classes would resume. Offices opened Wednesday, October 2. Students return to campus Sunday, October 6, and classes resume October 7.
