Bible in hand, Dr. Adamson addresses students at Fleet Fellowship.

Erskine president slated to join ‘America Reads the Bible’ marathon

Erskine President Dr. Steve Adamson will join more than 400 readers from across the nation for America Reads the Bible, scheduled for April 18-25 at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. Participants will read the Bible aloud in shifts, completing Genesis through Revelation in one week.

The event is being organized by “Christians Engaged,” a ministry which “invites Americans from every background to return to the spiritual foundation that has shaped our country—the Word of God.”

Christians Engaged describes the Bible-reading marathon as “a call to rediscover the truth that still anchors us today.”

Dr. Adamson, who will read from Joshua 15 and 16, says the event dovetails well with the Christian mission Erskine College has carried forward since its founding in 1839.

“Erskine’s participation is a natural extension of both the college’s enduring mission and the principles that helped form the foundation of our nation,” he says. “I am privileged to represent Erskine College at America Reads the Bible.”
