Jason Fort ’98

Jason E. Fort was born and raised in Greenville, S.C., and is the oldest of three brothers. He became involved in a small local church and went on to attend Erskine College, after which he pursued a brief career in education as a PE teacher. Along the way, he taught and coached basketball, baseball, and football. He also found his way into the fitness industry, and eventually the YMCA.

To earn more money for his family, Jason took a job as a bouncer in a local bar. After a five-year attempt at being the nicest bouncer in town, people began telling him he needed to go into law enforcement or security. He began working as a police officer in 2010 and continues in the job to this day.

Jason grew up with a flair for drawing and has since channeled that creative energy into storytelling. His stories are meant to enlighten readers by using real current events and speculating “What if?” with an emphasis on conservative values and Christian beliefs. His stories advance the theme that, no matter how bad things get, God can still shine a light through it all.

Fellow Classmates-

I am a 1972 graduate of the greatest college on the planet. I was Ann Beckham then, but have married, have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Life flies by us, doesn’t it?

After God, in His mercy, healed me in 2018 from a three-year health challenge, taking me to the main Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, He promptly told me to write a book about all the Truths of His Word that He taught me along the way.

“The God Chair” will make you laugh, probably tear up, and certainly be an encouragement to you or someone you know who is experiencing any tough time. And we all have tough times. I say often that “Life is tough, but God is tougher.”

I will be glad to mail you a premium, signed copy to your home address. Just mail me a check for $19.95, made payable to “Ann Gainey, Author” to 757 Oak Shire Court, Gainesville, GA 30501. And let me know what names(s) you want on the inside cover so that I can personalize it for you. I even mention good ole Erskine in the book!

Vickie Napoli ’82

Dash Designs is named as a tribute to my late husband, Anthony. In his professional presentations on ethics, he would show a graphic of a tombstone with a birth and death date separated by a dash. The two dates on our tombstones tell only when our lives begin and end. His question was, “What will you do with your dash?” After 30 years as an educator, handcrafting sterling silver jewelry is the next portion of my dash.

I always sought a creative outlet – from needlework to scrapbooking to beading. But my creative spark grew into a flame when I learned to solder and set stones. I love taking sheet silver and cutting and forging it into a piece of jewelry. And using a torch to solder silver to silver is amazing. Adding a stone to the project brings it alive for me.

My education in silversmithing began with weekend workshops at Tryon Arts and Crafts School. I’ve taken weekly classes at TAC with Ruthie Cohen and David Alberts and also with Danielle Miller.  I’ve completed weekend workshops with Kim St. Jean, Dan Haga, Molly Sharp, Victoria Lansford, and Patti Bullard.

Currently, my jewelry consists of pieces made entirely of sterling; stones set in sterling; and occasionally, beads strung with sterling components and a few copper pieces.
