A former defensive back at the University of the South, Boyd has made a living building and producing nationally ranked defenses – from the division 1 level to the High School level. Prior to his current post, Boyd inherited a defense at UVA Wise that was ranked 155th in the country. Three years later, upon his departure, they were ranked 17th in the nation.
Boyd was hired at Erskine in November of 2018 to revive a program that had been dormant for nearly 70 years, essentially starting the program from scratch. His work encompassed program design, building facilities, and helping Erskine College increase its enrollment almost 20% upon the start of football.
Boyd is married to his college sweetheart, and they are blessed with three grown children. They have recently become grandparents.
