The Access Services department encompasses front-line services to library patrons, including circulation, renewals, PASCAL Delivers, library patron accounts, course reserves, and off-campus access to the library’s electronic resources.

Acquisitions & Collection Development
The Acquisitions department is responsible for the ordering and receiving of library materials. Collection Development involves the selection of materials for the collection which best serve the mission of the library. The librarians serve as liaisons to the various academic departments to address the development of the library’s collections.

Archives & Special Collections
The McCain Library Department of Archives and Special Collections is located in Reid Hall and serves to preserve and provide access to valuable and unique materials and information related to Erskine College, Erskine Theological Seminary, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, and Abbeville County, SC.
Interlibrary Loan
The Interlibrary Loan department provides assistance to Erskine library patrons with the requesting and borrowing of materials from other libraries.
Reference & Instruction

Librarians help library patrons identify, locate, and use library resources and provide assistance with information gathering for research projects from the Reference Desk and by email, phone, chat, and text messaging. The librarians also offer individualized and course-related instruction in the use of library resources and other information sources.

Serials
The Serials department oversees the maintenance of the library’s serial subscriptions, including journals, magazines, and newspapers in print, electronic, and microform formats.
